Concept Manual  This is my final concept manual for my Northern Souk Project. I wanted Sheffield to run through the heart of the manual especially the locations as this is what our concept focused on. The manual is quite personal, as explained I'm a proud northerner so I felt a strong connection to the places we filmed, the concept and the movement itself. I wanted to create something people can feel a connection to. The manual is heavily image based as I believe they say a lot and give a mod and up north feeling. Overall I am happy with the way this turned out and believe it works well with the concept and the brief!

Up The North Final Film from SALLY OCALLAGHAN on Vimeo . This is our final final for the Northern Soul module. We decided the for the characters in the film to have similar interests, both discovering the best areas in their city and feeling proud to live in Sheffield. We wanted to create a feeling of relatability to northerners watching the film. The two characters embody the modern mod and they have a common interest in music towards the end of the film. This is how they meet, outside a popular mod club; The Leadmill. The two enter as a means of escpapism and excitement. The film is a celebration of being northern and all things Sheffield and how this can bring people together. We're so happy with how the film turned out. Changing the concept, we had to make sure we got Jacob filmed as soon as possible to start editing so we could perfect this for the best possible outcome. We spent around 6 and a half hours setting up and preparing the images for the exhibition. We hung them all up with fishing wire and has to make sure they were all ready for 6pm. It was a tiring day but extremely worth it. It was a very rewarding experience to see mine and Macy's work that we were proud of up at a public exhibition for everyone to see! I was nervous at first about the exhibition but overall an amazing experience and a very good end to my first year at university.

Promotional Materials and exhibition for Kommune  This is the promotional poster made for the Kommune. I wanted a northern based image as the main asset of the poster. It has a northern soul sign and the Fred Perry jacket as Main elements of the image. It showcases the working class in the image and a mod aesthetic. This is the displayed images and final film mock up in Kommune. The images are placed in relation to locations in Sheffield as this is what I wanted the exhibition to focus on. The film would be played on a film projector at the back on the room. There will be a description next to each location on what it means to the locals and the sentiment it holds to Sheffield. 

Exhibition at The Leadmill These are the promotional posters I would post outside The Leamdill venue to promote the exhibition. I wanted the imagery of the concept to be a big part of these posters and I believe this conveys the Northern Mod feeling the most. I included captions such as "£1 pints" to engage people and encourage them to attend. I want this to be a celebration so naturally it would be at The Leadmill due to the couple meeting outside of here at the end of the film. I would show the film inside the venue on a few nights, beers and food would be served and it would be everyone coming together to celebrate na due proud of where they are from. The film would be projected onto the back wall. Tickets would be sold on The Leadmill website and be advertised via their social channels.  This is a promotional beer mug that beer will be served in at the venue upon arrival. These are a few screenshot from the current concept manual. This is the first draft that I'm currently working on. First image is from the from cover, second image is one from my location based pages and the third is the styling close ups and notes. I want this to be mostly imaged based and a visual representation of our concept and interpretation of Northern Soul. I will be working on this over the next few weeks.
