Music and Title Selection

The music selection was one of the more diffuclt things we had to choose. We wanted it to be Northern based singer/band to fit the style of the film. I listen to a lot of Ska and Mod classics anyway so tried the music I knew and see if it would fit the film but none fit with the style we were going for. I tried Northern Soul Playlists but these didn't work either.

Macy suggested we try 'Love will tear us apart' by Joy Division. Being a band from Salford but still relevant and massively listened to today, this worked with our film. They fit into the current mod/Indie scene but it is a well-known song that people can relate to which is what we wanted. We tried this with the film and it worked perfectly. I edited the film slightly so the cuts land on the beat on the song and fitted it into the concept!






















Film Name:
 We couldn't think of a name for a film but kept hearing the term 'Up the North' whether it be when I'm in Leadmill or Sheffield city centre. People who live in the North, love the North and love being Northern even more. It made sense to use this as the name of the film as its a phrase people love to celebrate being Northern. It definitely fit the concept of the film too.
